Back from vacation
Jul. 17th, 2015 03:36 pmWe didn’t to do anything you’d call super exciting, but the entire family hung out together and mostly just lazed around, which is the best kind of vacation for me.
But we did find time for some sightseeing – one of the things I love about my country is that there’s a historical monument everywhere you look. Even the smallest village has at least a baroque (if not older) church or a castle. Or some castle ruins. I’m a bit of a history (and history of architecture) enthusiast, as is my dad, and thanks to some of our acquaintances we got to explore a few churches and a small 14th century castle in detail, from the cellars all the way up to the attic. A lot of dirt and dust, but also a lot of fun for me.
Oh, and I had a supernatural experience! There was this old cemetery just outside one of the villages we visited, and the locals erected a large wooden cross there last year. Apparently, only three days after they put it there, the cross twisted so it’s now facing the village (it was almost a 90 degree turn). And when you stand next to the cross, you can feel something there. Seriously. Weird vibrations, goosebumps… I bet that if I had an EMF reader there, it’d be freaking out. (Even my dad was like "We should call those Winchesters.")
Anyway, now I’m relaxed, rested and ready to see what I missed while I was gone.

Date: 2015-07-17 02:11 pm (UTC)Churches and castles are my favourites things when it comes to architecture. So much history in those places; you can just about FEEL it when you're walking around them.
Oh, wow, really? That's so cool. π π»π»π»π»π»
Glad you had a good time, hon. βΊοΈ

Date: 2015-07-17 02:31 pm (UTC)And wow, I'm kind of stunned that you'd even consider nominating Just a Puppet... And incredibly honored. So yeah, go ahead and nominate! Meanwhile, I'll be over here, dumbly staring at my computer screen and grinning like an idiot.
No, seriously, thank you. This means so much to me. *hugs*

Date: 2015-07-17 06:39 pm (UTC)That's my ideal vacation. Lazing around, doing some sightseeing. Just that. Having someone with me. Being lazy. And yes!!
Now you have to check all the SDCC stuff :D

Date: 2015-07-17 07:00 pm (UTC)I'm in the process of checking the SDCC stuff right now. It's a lot to take in, and I don't want to rush it, because even though it's a bit less Jensen (and info about Dean) than I'd love, it's still pretty great.

Date: 2015-07-17 07:46 pm (UTC)The SDCC panel was AWESOME :) Hilarious, really! The Nerd HQ was...I don't know, too many people took advantage of Jared and Jensen being there, asking for autographs and such things during the questions. And it was kinda unproductive!

Date: 2015-07-18 07:13 am (UTC)What I don't understand is how these extremely lucky people who get the chance to ask their favorite actors/idols a question waste their time on questions or requests that are so unsubstantial, shallow or just plain stupid. I mean these are all incredibly smart and talented actors who know more about their characters and the show than anyone else, and you ask them to draw something on your action figure?!
But there was a lot of good stuff, of course. Jensen's advice to the unicorn about the mic (it's like he wants us to think dirty thoughts about him). Jensen eating gummi bears and looking completely adorable. J2 and Mark giving some pretty thoughtful answers. And the way Jensen looks at Jared when Jared's talking about Sam's speech in Sacrifice.

Date: 2015-07-19 03:27 am (UTC)You're so lucky, being surrounded by history. That's so awesome you got to explore those places! I wish I was more well-versed in world or even European history, our education here is very Canadian focused.
Okay that is terrifying, I don't think I'd be brave enough to approach it. D:
How are you liking all the Comic Con stuff? I've seen all the highlights haven't watched them all the way through yet.

Date: 2015-07-19 06:39 am (UTC)I haven't really managed to catch up with the Comic Con stuff so far, because as soon as I got back from the vacation there was some work waiting for me that I have to get finished by Monday, so I didn't have much time for exploring yet.
I only watched the livestream of the Nerd HQ panel on Sunday and aside from a few good moments I was disappointed, just like I was with last year's Nerd HQ - so many dumb questions, so much time wasted on unnecessary things, and Jensen was way too quiet again. He always is when there are more people around... But we did hear him give advice to a unicorn trying to deepthroat a mic, and I'll never get over the complete adorableness of him flipping his mic while eating gummi bears and smiling like the cute little teddy bear he is. So there's that.
