We didn’t to do anything you’d call super exciting, but the entire family hung out together and mostly just lazed around, which is the best kind of vacation for me.

But we did find time for some sightseeing – one of the things I love about my country is that there’s a historical monument everywhere you look. Even the smallest village has at least a baroque (if not older) church or a castle. Or some castle ruins. I’m a bit of a history (and history of architecture) enthusiast, as is my dad, and thanks to some of our acquaintances we got to explore a few churches and a small 14th century castle in detail, from the cellars all the way up to the attic. A lot of dirt and dust, but also a lot of fun for me.

Oh, and I had a supernatural experience! There was this old cemetery just outside one of the villages we visited, and the locals erected a large wooden cross there last year. Apparently, only three days after they put it there, the cross twisted so it’s now facing the village (it was almost a 90 degree turn). And when you stand next to the cross, you can feel something there. Seriously. Weird vibrations, goosebumps… I bet that if I had an EMF reader there, it’d be freaking out. (Even my dad was like "We should call those Winchesters.")

Anyway, now I’m relaxed, rested and ready to see what I missed while I was gone.
