I don't usually do memes, but this one sparked my interest after I read
saltandburnboys's answers. It got kinda long, so I put it under a cut.
Oh, and there's a Jensen GIF inside!
01. Earliest show you remember getting into.
The first show I watched consistently was Magnum, PI. My dad used to watch it and I immediately liked Magnum because he had a beard like my dad (I was a very little kid then). I still love that show. Such beautiful friendship between all the characters. And not the mushy friendship where everyone hugs and likes each other all the time – real friendship, where people tease each other, sometimes get angry or fed up with each other, but always, always are there for each other.
The first show that got me involved with its fandom was Stargate SG-1 though. Jack O’Neill will always have a special place in my heart.
02. First anime watched.
Candy Candy is the only anime I've ever seen. I was a kid, and I watched it with both my parents. Beautiful memories.
03. A show you've been meaning to finish.
The Walking Dead. We watch the show together as a whole family (we do that a lot), and somehow we just haven’t been able to get together to finish season 5. We did finish season 10 of Supernatural and season 5 of Game of Thrones, though.
04. 2 shows you abandoned.
How I Met Your Mother. I lost interest in it somewhere in season 8. It didn't feel like the same show anymore.
Castle. Not that it was bad, but I missed one episode, then missed another one, and realized I don't feel the need to catch up. No hard feelings through, the first couple of seasons are great.
05. A series you're currently watching.
Supernatural, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead.
06. A show you're sad is over.
Angel, The Borgias, Firefly.
07. Favorite series finale.
Angel. That bittersweet deliciousness of their last act of defiance, their last stand… I love that episode, love that whole season. "Let's go to work." and fade to black... Genius. (I really hope the final episode of Supernatural will be like this.)
MASH. I can’t watch the finale too often because it makes me cry, and because it makes me depressed for days (that scene with the baby on the bus – so horrible), but I love it. This finale really gave me closure, which is actually pretty rare, I think.
09. Worst TV program you've ever seen.
Any reality show.
10. A show that shouldn't have been cancelled.
The Borgias, Dollhouse, Firefly (I’ll be forever bitter about that one), Leverage.
11. A show that needs to end.
Sherlock. I know, it’s not even on air right now, but I think it should’ve ended with season 2. Season 3 was so horrible, I wish I hadn’t watched it because now I almost can’t take the show seriously. What the hell happened there?
Heroes. Alright, I know they got cancelled years ago, but they should've been cancelled even earlier. The first season was amazing, but then everything stopped making any sense, the characters changed allegiances, powers and opinions in every episode... Such a shame.
12. Favorite cartoon.
I never was a fan. And believe it or not, I've never seen an American cartoon in my life (except for the bits in that SPN episode). But I love the old Russian Nu, pogodi! (Well, Just You Wait!) cartoons.
Actually, Jensen recently reminded me of the Wolf (the bad guy of the story) at Phoenix con 2015. Just look:

13. Favorite reboot.
Queer as Folk. The UK series seemed dull to me, but I absolutely loved the US version.
14. A TV adaptation you’d like to see.
The Witcher book series by the Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski. (There was a Polish TV series, and I actually liked it, but it was really, really cheap. I’d love to see what they could do with the story if they had a budget like Game of Thrones. You’d all be like “What Game of Thrones?”)
The Night Watch book series by the Russian urban fantasy author Sergei Lukyanenko.
15. Saddest TV moment.
- Buffy: Giles finding Jenny Calendar’s dead body.
- Buffy: Buffy and Dawn hugging and crying on the floor once they realize their mom is truly gone, forever.
- Game of Thrones: Daenerys killing Drogo.
- Firefly: River’s brief moment of sanity where she tells Simon she knows how much he’s sacrificed for her, and repeats “I'll get better.” I don't know why, but just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes.
- Queer as Folk: the death of Uncle Vic.
- Star Trek: TNG: Geordi becoming friends with the young injured Borg “Hugh” they rescued, convincing Picard and everyone that Hugh isn’t a Borg anymore, only to have to watch him leave for a suicide mission to destroy the Borg.
- Stargate SG-1: Jack and Sam kind-of admitting their feelings for each other and then agreeing to never act on them because they couldn’t work together anymore.
- Supernatural: “I couldn’t let him die, Bobby… He's m' brother.” That gets me more than Sam’s death or Dean’s monologue over Sam’s body. The realization in Bobby's eyes that Dean really is that screwed in the head, that he really thinks so little of himself... A great performance from both Jensen and Jim.
- Supernatural: “Remember what dad taught you, and remember what I taught you.” The smile, the tears… My favorite scene in all 218 episodes.
- Torchwood: Children of Earth: Jack watching his grandson die.
- The Walking Dead: Caroline shoots Lizzie.
16. Most satisfying TV moment.
- The Borgias: Cesare tricking the French army into thinking Rome is heavily defended (with cannons that are actually made of plaster) and thus saving the city. His victorious roar once the French army retreats.
- Buffy: “Take all that away and what's left?” – “Me.”
- Buffy: Buffy basically telling the Watchers that from now on they’ll be working for her, not the other way around, and that they’ll stop bugging her about her friends and her methods or they can bugger off.
- Game of Thrones: that split-second death glare Sansa gives Joffrey when he forces her to look at her murdered father’s head.
- Queer as Folk: Brian and Justin dancing at the prom.
- Queer as Folk: Brian using all his money to fund a campaign against Stockwell in the elections, Liberty Avenue dancing after Stockwell loses.
- Supernatural: Dean telling Uriel he’d rather be thrown back into Hell than give Anna over to the angels. This is season 4, Dean’s traumatized as fuck and he knows what horrors are waiting for him down there, but he still refuses to give up on those he feels he should protect.
- Supernatural: Dean killing the three demons in Cain’s kitchen. If there’s anything I love more than BAMF!Dean, it’s scruffy BAMF!Dean.
17. A character you identify with.
Tara from Buffy. She's quiet, doesn't seek out attention, doesn't need to always be in the spotlight, is happy to simply be with the people she loves.
Bobby from Supernatural. He’s grumpy, kind of anti-social and he’s got a house full of books :)
18. A character that reminds you of your friend.
Well, my brother is sometimes a bit like Spock from Star Trek: TOS. And my cousin is smart and talented like Rory from Gilmore Girls. And she actually dresses like her...
19. Favorite talk show.
I don’t really watch them, but from what I’ve randomly seen on YouTube etc., I like Craig Ferguson.
20. Sports or nah.
The only one I’m interested in watching is figure skating. Evgeni Plushenko is the best!
21. A TV world you'd like to live in.
Realistically? All of them are pretty scary… except for How I Met Your Mother, maybe. Oh! I know! Gilmore Girls!
For the saddest/most satisfying TV moments, you can also basically add all the Buffy, Supernatural and Torchwood moments that
saltandburnboys mentions in her meme.

Date: 2015-06-17 04:49 pm (UTC)But I feel like I'm the only person in the world who doesn't love Angel, except the first two seasons which were gold. I kind of hated Fred - and her ridiculous parallel world - and then they brought in the abomination that was Connor...and had him hook up with Cordelia who was old enough to be his goddamn mother. THEN...THEN they had the atrocious Angel/Cordy SL...now, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Angel leave Buffy - THE LOVE OF HIS UNDEAD LIFE - because he was a vamp and she was human and he wanted her 'to live in the light'. So, if he didn't ascribe to that frankly ridiculous idea anymore, why the heck wasn't he high-tailing it back to Sunnydale?!!
It wasn't without its merits obviously. It had David...*fans self* I loved the Wolfram and Heart SL - amazing and clever, and wonderfully sinister. I loved the idea of vamp PI Angel saving the lonely souls of LA. It had Gunn, and I freaking ADORED dark Wesley...but I just...when they brought Darla in, I felt they kind of lost their way a little. Like...they moved away from the PI idea, and onto huge storylines that just got too big for them to handle. I mean, come on, puppet!Angel and Spike?? Seriously?? 😪
I ADORE ice skating. I'd forgotten that. I don't follow it or anything, but if it's on, I freaking love it. I spend my whole time holding my breath - half in awe, half dreading the moment they slip.
As you know, I'm re-watching GG. God, I'd love to live in that universe. 😃
You know...speaking of Tara. They did not do that character justice, IMO. I really wish they'd developed her more. I know she was just sort of meant to be 'Willow's gf' but she was wonderful. I mean, the abusive family/her telling Willow she expected her to go back to Oz *cries forever*/losing herself in magic because she felt so outside the world. I loved her.
Satisfying moments - oh my god, how did I forget Buffy telling the Council to shove it!! YES!! I fucking LOVED THAT SO MUCH. It's been a while since I watched it, but was that when Giles told them to shove it too? Coz that was a wonderful moment as well.
Aww, and Dean...in that barn...oh my gosh... *clutches heart*
OH MY GOSH...DAENERYS KILLED DROGO. I knew he died but...but she killed him?? Was she forced to?? Oh my gosh... 😭
"I couldn’t let him die, Bobby… He's m' brother.” That gets me more than Sam’s death or Dean’s monologue over Sam’s body. The realization in Bobby's eyes that Dean really is that screwed in the head, that he really thinks so little of himself... A great performance from both Jensen and Jim. . Isn't that just one of the best scenes ever?? There's so much in those few little words. A real insight into his soul, IMO.
“Remember what dad taught you, and remember what I taught you.” That's actually my 'by-line' thing on my LJ AND my Tumblr coz I love it so much.
Torchwood: Children of Earth: Jack watching his grandson die. I don't remember that - what happened again? I only saw it once, and all I remember is Ianto dying...coz I sobbed forever.
Wow...I'm really sorry for this ridiculously long comment. I just really loved reading your meme, hehe...

Date: 2015-06-17 05:27 pm (UTC)Amen to everything you said about Heroes. I still don't undestand how they could mess it up so quickly.
I know a lot of Buffy fans don't like Angel (the series, not the character). At first I was reluctant to watch it too, but it grew on me. Especially Wesley (dark Wesley was perfect, Alexis Denisof is such an underrated actor). But I wasn't fond of the whole Cordy/Angel and then Cordy/Connor thing either, for the same reasons as you.
But season 5 is actually probably my favorite season of Angel. I know it lost the PI vibe, but it was so delicously dark and hopeless, so obvious that they bit off more than they could chew... It was such an emotional rollercoaster. And I loved the puppet episode (written by SPN's Ben Edlund, by the way!). The way it goes from scary to funny and then again to scary and creepy... I thought it was brilliant.
Tara... well, they definitely could've done a lot more with her character, but I actually kind of like that she was so... understated. And yet so very, very important. Not just to Willow, but to everyone. That soft, wise, kind person that kind of holds everyone together.
Also, I loved that she wasn't the skinny supermodel type, she was normal-looking. But so beautiful on the inside that it shone right through and made her beautiful on the outside too.
They all pretty much told the Council to shove it in that episode. Which was awesome. And I love it when they stand up for themselves, especially Buffy...
I spoiled you about Game of Thrones? Sorry! Well, Drogo was poisoned by a witch and basically became a human vegetable, so Dany smothered him with a pillow. It's one of the few scenes in GoT that really brought me to tears.
And about Torchwood... It's been a while since I've watched it, but somehow the only way to defeat the aliens who were about to invade Earth was to use a kid against them, but the kid would die. And there was no other kid around but Jack's grandson... It was horrible.
God, there are so many great shows... and now I want to rewatch every single one of them and I can't... Damn. :)
(I'm kinda weird that way. I'd often rather rewatch an old favorite than try something new.)

Date: 2015-06-17 05:45 pm (UTC)You think I should give it another try? It was a long time since I watched it, and I was so mad about Connor, did I judge it too harshly?? Hmmm...since you're so like me with fandom stuff, I feel like I should give it another go. 😊
Hmmm...maybe you're right. That actually makes me feel a little better about Tara. Her death absolutely broke me. 😭
Oh, no, don't worry about that. I haven't watched any GoT yet so I've been spoiled for loads of it, so really don't worry. Oh my gosh, how awful. 😢
Oh my gosh...NOOOO...now I HAVE to re-watch.
Preaching to the choir...preaching to the goddamn choir, lol. I would much rather re-watch something I know I love than try something new. My family thinks it's hilarious.

Date: 2015-06-17 06:21 pm (UTC)Yeah, Tara's death hit me really hard, too. Not only was she a great character, but it was so unexpected, it came out of nowhere. Joss Whedon does that a lot.
Really? You also prefer to rewatch old classics instead of venturing out? That's awesome... Our entire family does it, but everyone else always says we're weird because of that... Like, we do a Buffy or Stargate SG-1 rewatch practically every other year, we can carry out entire conversations composed solely of quotes from those shows. The same goes for the Discworld novels, too.
