I loved reading your long comment! It's always interesting to see what other people whose opinion I value think...
Amen to everything you said about Heroes. I still don't undestand how they could mess it up so quickly.
I know a lot of Buffy fans don't like Angel (the series, not the character). At first I was reluctant to watch it too, but it grew on me. Especially Wesley (dark Wesley was perfect, Alexis Denisof is such an underrated actor). But I wasn't fond of the whole Cordy/Angel and then Cordy/Connor thing either, for the same reasons as you.
But season 5 is actually probably my favorite season of Angel. I know it lost the PI vibe, but it was so delicously dark and hopeless, so obvious that they bit off more than they could chew... It was such an emotional rollercoaster. And I loved the puppet episode (written by SPN's Ben Edlund, by the way!). The way it goes from scary to funny and then again to scary and creepy... I thought it was brilliant.
Tara... well, they definitely could've done a lot more with her character, but I actually kind of like that she was so... understated. And yet so very, very important. Not just to Willow, but to everyone. That soft, wise, kind person that kind of holds everyone together.
Also, I loved that she wasn't the skinny supermodel type, she was normal-looking. But so beautiful on the inside that it shone right through and made her beautiful on the outside too.
They all pretty much told the Council to shove it in that episode. Which was awesome. And I love it when they stand up for themselves, especially Buffy...
I spoiled you about Game of Thrones? Sorry! Well, Drogo was poisoned by a witch and basically became a human vegetable, so Dany smothered him with a pillow. It's one of the few scenes in GoT that really brought me to tears.
And about Torchwood... It's been a while since I've watched it, but somehow the only way to defeat the aliens who were about to invade Earth was to use a kid against them, but the kid would die. And there was no other kid around but Jack's grandson... It was horrible.
God, there are so many great shows... and now I want to rewatch every single one of them and I can't... Damn. :)
(I'm kinda weird that way. I'd often rather rewatch an old favorite than try something new.)
