I'm in a thinky mood about the show lately, so I thought I'd do this one too...  It helps me gather my thoughts when I write things down.

Really long, so I'm putting this under a cut.

1: What is your Supernatural OTP? – Wincest.

2: What’s your opinion on John Winchester? – I hate what his upbringing has done to the boys, especially Dean, but I don’t hate John. He’s made a lot of mistakes and I’m not excusing them, but he also did everything in his power to keep his sons alive and safe (I guess he could’ve kept them away from the hunting life, but in his eyes evil was everywhere, so it was logical to get the boys ready for it). And I definitely love every episode he’s in – I love how the dynamic between Sam and Dean changes immediately in John’s presence, how their behavior changes… It’s fascinating to watch.

3: Which season finale was your favorite/least favorite? – My favorite was probably No Rest for the Wicked, least favorite was Brother’s Keeper. It was such a disappointing end to the Mark of Cain arc, and the writing felt really wonky to me. Also, killing Death? No way! (I refuse to accept that even happened.)

4: Which is your favorite episode? – This is the worst question ever, there are so many… But if I could only keep one episode, it would be Dead in the Water. I love the MOTW episodes, there’s classic rock, Kim Manners’ cinematography (every shot is so. freaking. beautiful.), Amy Acker guest stars and every other guest star is great too, the episode characters are memorable, the case is a haunting one, Dean peels back some layers for the first time…

5: Which episode makes you cry the most? – I don’t cry often when watching TV, I just mostly get really depressed… But “Remember what dad taught you…” in No Rest for the Wicked always brings tears to my eyes.

6: Which episode is the funniest to you? – The French Mistake. From Dean’s annoyed “I said ‘hey’.” and Balthazar’s “You did, twice, good for you!”, to the plastic knives, painted whore, “You married fake Ruby?”, “Now that I know there's an alpaca out back …”, Sam and Dean acting, Kripke’s death…

7: What’s your opinion on Megstiel? – It always felt a little forced to me.

8: When did you start watching Supernatural? – In the spring when season 8 was being aired.

9: Which episode title do you think is the funniest? - Season Seven, Time for a Wedding! Not a good episode, but the self-reflection is funny.

10: What’s your opinion on Garth? - I liked him in his first two episodes, but after that, not so much. I always become wary of characters who become the “ooh, in this week’s episode, we’ll see [supposedly fan-favorite recurring character]” in the promos. When it feels like the show is forcing us to like them, to be happy to see them. Like Charlie, or Jody Mills (used to love those two too, but not anymore).

11: If you could bring back any character, would you? If so, whom? – I’m not a fan of bringing characters back (I actually think they shouldn’t have brought back Bobby after his death in Death’s Door, even though I love Bobby), it lessens their importance and the emotional punch of their passing if you know that every fan-favorite character can be brought back in some form. (I’m already dreading the return of Charlie.) Having said that, I would love to see Benny again.

12: Who is your favorite angel? – If I ignore seasons 9 and 10, then Castiel. Especially Castiel the Angel of the Lord, who will smite demons at first sight, doesn’t understand pop culture references and doesn’t care that he doesn’t, Castiel who is otherworldly and scary and dangerous and fierce. Yeah. I miss that Castiel.

13: Who’s your favorite archangel? – Gabriel.

14: What’s your opinion on Wincest? – Hell yes! And it’s real! Not in the sense that Sam and Dean are actually sleeping together on the show, but the important part – the emotional connection, being soulmates, the love that overcomes all obstacles – that’s all there.

15: What’s your opinion on Lisa? (and Ben, if you want) – I loved Lisa and Ben! And even though I love Dean on the road with Sam, there’s a part of me that still wishes he could’ve stayed with the Braedens.

16: When did you start blogging about Supernatural? – Probably around the time season 8 ended. I was in a Destiel mood back then…

17: Do you think that Chuck is God? – I’m not even sure anymore, I don’t trust the writers on this. But I hope he isn’t – because I loved Chuck, the nervous, awkward writer, being so brave and helping stop the Apocalypse.

18: Do you have a favorite Dick (Roman) joke? If so, what is it? – “The rise of Dick”. But they were all great. So silly!

19: Which is your favorite episode? – This is a repeat, but I’m gonna be sneaky and use it to give a second answer – Lazarus Rising. Kim Manners again, Dean-centric, the opening sequence is perfect, “Hiya Sammy”, Hell flashbacks, the manifestation of Sam’s demon-exorcising powers, Castiel’s introduction… Epic.

20: Who do you ship Sam with? – Dean. Aside from that, I really liked him with Sarah Blake, Madison and Dr. Cara Roberts from Sex and Violence.

21: What’s your opinion on Destiel? – I used to be very fond of the pairing in the earlier seasons (actually, my longest fic to this day is Destiel), but the later seasons’ Castiel and the disrespectful, demanding Destiellers almost ruined the ship for me. I also don’t like the fact that in many Destiel fics, either Dean or Cas become such woobies. You don’t see that in Wincest fics, or at least not that often.

22: Did you like the first or second Ruby better? – I preferred the first Ruby, but it’s not a strong preference. They were both pretty cool.

23: Who’s your favorite demon? - Alastair. Christopher Heyerdahl was of course the best version, but Mark Rolston’s was also great.

24: Do you read smutty fanfiction? – Yes, and I love it… But if I had to choose between plotty fics and smutty fics, I’d go for the plotty ones. Of course, the best fics have both :)

25: Do you think Destiel will become canon in season 11? (Regardless of whether you want it to or not) – I don’t think it will ever become canon. But if it were to become canon, the best time would be early season 9, I think. Now the ship has definitely sailed. (Not that I mind. I don’t want any ship to become canon. That’s not what the show is about.)

26: Have you ever had a dream about Supernatural/the characters/the actors? If so, can you describe what you remember? – Yes, it was an extended cut of Dean’s shower scene in Meta Fiction. But it wasn’t angsty like the actual shower scene, it was basically just pure porn. And there was also Dean doing push-ups. Naked. It was glorious. I was so mad when I woke up and realized it was just a dream…

27: Which episode is the scariest to you? (Horror-movie type scary) – Nightmare or Family Remains. Basically the human monsters…But many of the earlier MOTW episodes had great scary moments. And Bad Boys. The sequence where Sam narrates the story of Timmy’s mother’s death, with the scary drawings… That was really well done.

28: What’s your opinion on Sabriel? – I have no interest in it, I was surprised to find out people ship it. But then again, I ship all kinds of weird/unprobable ships, so no judgement :)

29: Do you think Endverse will happen? If so, are you looking forward to it? – No, and I’m glad it didn’t (although I love fics set in Endverse). It would be a needless repetition of a storyline that has already been explored. Also, I agree with Jensen on this one – I think Endverse was a glimpse into a future that could’ve been, and since the events leading to that future didn’t occur, it would make no sense if Endverse happened.

30: Do you have any friends off of the Internet that watch Supernatural? – No… Or maybe I do, I just don’t know it…

31: Do any of your family members watch Supernatural? – My entire family does, my boyfriend too. (And amazingly, he agrees with me that Dean is the best character. I’m so lucky.)

32: What’s an unpopular opinion or headcanon you have? – Well, there’s a few…
- I think if Sam stayed in the Cage after Swan Song for good, Dean would stay with Lisa and Ben and actually learn to love the civilian life and be happy. I love the brothers’ co-dependency, but I don’t think they absolutely can’t function without the other, or even find happiness without the other. I also don’t like to imagine Stanford!era Dean as a mopey, sad creature who misses his brother all the time and doesn’t have any fun, doesn’t smile or laugh, doesn’t really live, only survive… Sam is a huge part of who Dean is, but there’s so much more to Dean than just that.
- I think Sam’s actually more prone to do something reckless and dangerous (to the world, not just himself) in order to save his brother than Dean is. The way he didn’t exactly regret his actions in Faith, robo!Sam killing Bobby in Mystery Spot, his willingness to make Dean into a Frankenstein-esque zombie even if it meant Dean would have to harvest organs from time to time in Time Is on My Side, the whole Book of the Damned madness in season 10… I think Dean is the one more willing to sacrifice everything, even Sam, if it means saving the world/keeping the world safe.
- I didn’t like Jared’s improvised “I lied” line to Dean in Do You Believe in Miracles?. I feel like it erased the valid (if cruelly worded) points he raised in season 9. It erased the “Same circumstances… I wouldn’t” line (meaning Sam wouldn’t save Dean against Dean’s expressed wishes, not that he wouldn’t save Dean, period). And it’s also why I wasn’t that thrilled when Sam in season 10 was doing the exact same thing he criticized Dean for in season 9. I hoped the lesson of season 9 would be less crazy, do-anything-to-keep-you-alive co-dependency from Dean, but instead we got an increase of that same co-dependency from Sam. I actually think Carver originally intended for it to evolve the way I would’ve preferred, but the fandom protested too loudly and he got scared.

33: Do you like AU fanfics? – Not really. If the author’s good, I’ll read them, but I prefer the 'regular' Sam and Dean (or Jared and Jensen) that I fell in love with in the first place.

34: Have you ever written/started writing a fanfic? – Yes. Supernatural isn’t the first fandom I’ve written fanfic for, but it’s the one I’ve written the most.

35: What’s your opinion on Samifer? – The ship or Lucifer!Sam? Jared was absolutely amazing as Lucifer, but if the question’s about the ship, then that’s a big no for me. I’ve noticed there are quite a few Samifer AUs at AO3 where (based on the tags/summaries) they’re a sweet, loving couple, and I just don’t get how people come up with that. But again, to each his own…

36: If you have an OTP, at what point did you start shipping it? – Destiel was my first OTP in season 8 (with what I then saw as build-up from the previous seasons), but I kind of abandoned ship in season 9 after I finished writing my post season 8 fix-it Destiel fic. Ever since then, it was Wincest all the way… With a dose of Dean/Benny or Dean/Lisa thrown in for good measure.

37: Do you think Sam should have completed the demon trials? – No. I think Dean was right, they did acquire enough knowledge about Hell, demons, hellhounds etc. that they could fight Hell even without Sam having to sacrifice his life. It’s just a shame that they seemed to forget almost all that knowledge in season 9 and 10 and looked like amateurs most of the time…

38: Which director/writer is or was your favorite/least favorite?
- My favorite director is definitely Kim Manners, and I don’t think I have a least favorite.
- My favorite writer is probably Sera Gamble, especially her earlier episodes co-written with Raelle Tucker. They write amazing Dean episodes. Ben Edlund was also great. Out of the writers that are still working for the show now, my favorite is Robert Berens. The least favorite is definitely the Devil Duo, Brad Bucker & Eugenie Ross-Leming.

39: Which actor would you most like to meet in real life? – Jensen. If I didn’t die of exposure to his perfect beauty, and if my brain somehow miraculously managed to work, I’d love to talk to him about the show. About Dean, about directing, about storylines, his acting process… Only few people at conventions ask him questions about this. It’s always the “favorite episode”, “favorite song”, “favorite prank on Misha” or “would you sing or dance for us?”, and it’s such a waste of opportunity to hear an intelligent man talk about something he’s very passionate and knowledgeable about.

40: If you could be any character on the show, would you want to? If so, whom? If not, why? – Living on the show would mean I’d die or suffer horribly all the time… But maybe it’d be safe to be one of Dean’s random hook-ups? Yeah, that sounds very nice.

41: Do you prefer cake or pie? – Pie. Honestly.

42: What is your opinion on Sastiel? – Another ship that doesn’t interest me, and I don’t see any romantic/sexual chemistry there. But I do like Sam and Cas’ friendship.

43: Have you ever made a Supernatural reference out loud and received strange looks from some of the people surrounding you? – Probably not, because I only make Supernatural references when I’m around people who also watch the show.

44: Have you ever cried over a non-OTP ship from the show? – Yes, Dean and Lisa in Let It Bleed and Dean and Benny in Taxi Driver. Oh, and Sam and Madison in Heart.

45: What is your favorite moment from any of the gag reels? – Jensen unable to stop laughing in the season 7 gag reel because of Jared. He’s just so beautiful when he smiles/laughs like that.

46: Superwholock? – Not interested.

47: What is/was your favorite Sam hair length? – Early season 8.

48: What’s an unpopular ship you have? – Probably Dean/Lisa, I guess that one’s unpopular? Which is kind of absurd, because I also like Dean/Alastair, Dean/John or Dean/Crowley, but I don’t think any of these get as much hate as Dean/Lisa…

49: What’s your opinion on Wincestiel? – I’ll read smutty fics with this ship, but not longer, plotty ones.

50: Can you dig Elvis? – Yes, I’ve read Twist and Shout… And I was probably the only person on Earth who thought it was boring. I honestly don’t see what the hype about this fic is.

51: Do you listen to Carry On Wayward Son even when you’re not just watching a finale? - Yeah, it’s on my SPN-themed playlist, which I listen to very often.

52: What’s your opinion on Zachariah? – Great character, great actor. Back when angels were still scary and interesting to watch, not the suited dull office workers of Carvernatural. Zachariah was a dangerous, smart, sleazy bastard, and it was so gratifying to see Dean stab him in the face.

53: Do you think Adam will ever get out of the cage? (not as Michael) – No, and I'm okay with that. I mean, it’s tragic, but getting him out would probably mean a huge Cage-related storyline, and we’ve had that already with Sam.

54: Do you think Sam should have completed the trials? – Repeat question again…

55: How long would you survive as a hunter? – Well, if I put salt in a hula hoop… :D No, probably not even one minute. I wouldn’t follow the flickering lights and weird noises, at night, alone, though, and I wouldn’t walk into the dark and yell “Hello? Who’s there?” either. So maybe five minutes?

56: What’s your opinion on Calthazar? – As a ship? Never thought of it, don’t really care, but it sounds better to me than Megstiel or Sastiel. As a friendship? Very interesting, I loved to watch them together, and the scene where Cas kills Balthazar was really shocking and sad to me.

57: Do you have a Netflix account? If so, what’s your username and password? – No.

58: Have you ever participated in GISHWHES? – No. It’s definitely a cool thing, though.

59: What movies/shows have you watched because of (or by coincidence) Jared, Jensen, or Misha? – Gilmore Girls and Smallville by coincidence. After I fell love with Jensen, I watched Ten Inch Hero (great, fun movie), My Bloody Valentine 3D (not so great…) and Devour (really not so great, unfortunately). I’m avoiding Days of Our Lives (the few scenes I’ve looked up on YouTube make me cringe) and Dawson’s Creek (the Jared hair really doesn’t fit Jensen well, plus I’m not a fan of high school TV shows. Unless they’re Buffy.)

60: If you could change just one thing about the series, what would it be? – Many things come to mind, some I’ve already touched on (like the “I lied” fiasco or the destruction of Castiel and all angels in general). But I’m gonna go with something recent and, IMO, perfectly doable. The bunker – I wish the Stynes had burned it down. It didn’t really become a home for the boys, the archives weren’t actually helpful at all, it’s not as impregnable as it’s supposed to be… And most importantly I’m tired of the same boring shots, the staleness and laziness of the scenes in the bunker, the lack of wacky motel interiors and roadside bars...

61: If you were at a Con, what would be a question you would ask? (Can be any of the actors) – I’d ask Jensen about Dean … So many questions, but I don’t think he’d actually answer those that interest me the most. Like, I’m pretty sure the way he acted in Dark Side of the Moon implied John beat Dean after Sam ran off to Flagstaff, or the way he acts sometimes implies a history of sexual violence against Dean, or at least some very shady sexual experiences in the past (he has a tendency to be used as bait against monsters, enemies are often sexually threatening towards him – YED!John, YED!Samuel, the werewolves and hippy vampires in s10, the vampire in Live Free or Twihard – and Dean’s look of resignation when the vamp says “You want the private tour, don't you?” like this is something he’s used to). The way he was with Alastair was very intimate too, again an implication of a relationship that I think Jensen isn’t afraid to play onscreen, but never would openly discuss with the fans.

62: Why did you start watching Supernatural? – My brother caught one episode on TV once (I think he said it was A Very Supernatural Christmas) and thought it looked cool, and he convinced me to give the show a try.

63: What’s your opinion on Sam/Crowley? – Again, no particular interest or chemistry… It seems I only like Sam with Dean or with his canonical female love interests…

64: What’s your biggest fear for season 11? – That Cas, Crowley or Rowena will be a big part of the plot. I don’t care about them. I care about the brothers, and I want them to ride off in the Impala and fight evil, side by side, together. No more arguments, no more lying, no more guilt and blame. (Look, a girl can dream…)

65: What’s your favorite (or at least a memorable) pop culture reference that has been made on the show? – I’m not very pop-culture savvy, so many of the references are lost on me until I read about them at Superwiki… I loved Dean’s Schwarzenegger-like “It’s not a tulpa”. And I love it when Dean uses names/nouns as verbs, like “I full-on Swayzed that mother” or “Why not Zero Dark Thirty his ass?”

66: Just a random confession you have regarding the show – It scares me sometimes, how obsessed with it – and with Dean – I am. But I’m not salting my doors and windows yet, so I guess it could be worse… And, of course, the show – and the friends I found in the fandom – give me so much joy, so really, I’m fine :)

WHAT THE FUCK!!! Dude, are you serious? I am SO jealous. Dean doing push-ups. NAKED!!!

Favorite moment of the gag reel. Agreed, so much. Especially since they always say that it's hard to throw Jensen. And especially since they showed in the exact same gag reel how Jensen was stone faced while Jared was goofing around (I think it was nearly before the Jensen falling apart scene). And he is SO DAMN CUTE at that moment. LOVE, love, love his laugh and how he can't, just can't STOP!!!

I agree with a lot of things. Like the other ships...Megstiel? Samifer? What? Nope!

And yes, Kim Manners. Loved that the boys, and I think especially Jensen loved him so much!!

It scares me sometimes, how obsessed with it – and with Dean – I am. Don't be scared!! DON'T BE! We can hold each other while we obsess about Dean :)

I know, the dream was so great, I can't even describe it. BUT! Imagine how horrible it was to wake up! I was so, so mad! I was already thinking (while still dreaming) about the huge, high definition GIFs I would make of that scene, and how I'd rewatch it for days, and then boom! Reality! No naked Dean!

I also just remembered I had another great dream. This time it was about Jensen - I was at a convention (oh, I wish...) and I met him when I was walking up the stairs in the hotel. He was walking in front of me, and I had a glorious view of his even more glorious ass. ...and then I met a classmate from high school and he started bothering me with his favorite math equations and it all went to hell... But still, I dreamed about ogling Jensen's ass and no one will take that away from me.


I know, they always say Jensen can keep a stone face no matter what, so seeing him finally break - and be so damn cute while doing it - was absolutely priceless.

Kim Manners... I love how J2 both speak about Kim with such respect, and how Kim was apparently the first one who told Jensen he'd become a director one day... I think SPN owes a lot to Kim, and personally I think Kim's death was a greater loss to the quality of the show than Kripke's departure.

Oh, and don't worry, I'm not planning to stop obsessing about Dean anytime soon. Or, more like, ever.

llololol!!! Damn, now I want to SEE THE GIFS!! Wait, dammit, you only dreamed it!!! AND alskdjfhghalskfjgh, HOW DO YOU DO IT? I mean, I had one dream about Jared and Jensen (which totally stopped as soon as it got interesting), but your dreams sound freaking delicious!!

That Cas, Crowley or Rowena will be a big part of the plot. I don’t care about them. I care about the brothers, and I want them to ride off in the Impala and fight evil, side by side, together. No more arguments, no more lying, no more guilt and blame. are you me? I'm really starting to suspect you're me.

Like, I’m pretty sure the way he acted in Dark Side of the Moon implied John beat Dean after Sam ran off to Flagstaff, or the way he acts sometimes implies a history of sexual violence against Dean, or at least some very shady sexual experiences in the past (he has a tendency to be used as bait against monsters, enemies are often sexually threatening towards him.. This so much. As much as I love John - and I do - I'm about 99% that he beat the shit out of Dean when he found out Sam was missing, possibly with the help of some Jim Beam.

And your opinion of John in general = my opinion of John. Not a particularly good father - even though he did love his boys - but he did the best he could. I'd also like to add that he probably felt like he couldn't trust anyone after Mary died. So all the people saying he should've left the boys with Bobby - why should John have trusted him? That's part of the reason I think he kept the boys, along with your argument that he wanted to make sure they were safe. And teach them to protect each other - and teach Dean to always put Sam first. *Wipes away tear* I love John, but I will never forgive him for No Rest For The Wicked, for bringing Dean up in such a way that Dean realised John was possessed because John had told him he was proud of him/found it really hard to believe him in that hospital room/for dumping that stuff about Sam on him right before he died...especially after sending his whole life making sure Dean knew Sam was the most important. Way to fuck with Dean's brain.

Pfttt...you, somersault_j and I would last forever. We'd be like The Charlie's Angels of hunters. Come on, we've watched them all - SPN, TWD, Buffy...we're all set.

I love Dean/Lisa for two huge reasons. SHE was his mystery girl so he very nearly got to have one of HIS dreams come true for once, and two - he must've been a mess after Sam and she kept him alive. For THAT, she is one of my favourite characters. I think she's an idiot for not fighting harder for him, but I can forgive her for that because of my two huge reasons, lol.

It’s always the “favorite episode”, “favorite song”, “favorite prank on Misha” or “would you sing or dance for us?” Please tell me this means you hate some of the shit fans get them to do?? When they treat the boys like performing monkeys?? Please...I hate it.

Totally with you on guest stars - don't make them a THING, writers, FFS. Coz then you start forcing them on us with ridiculous episodes about back stories none of us care about, and you make the boys more stupid/ incompetent to make them look better. I mean, Sam ALREADY gets knocked out every episode...we don't need any help making them look more incompetent right now. AND when they die, you get teens throwing tantrums about sexism and homophobia that never happened before when other - *cough* far better *cough* - guest stars died. I mean, I can't believe people are campaigning to bring Charlie back when we had Jo/Sarah/Ellen/Madison (and that's just try women) in the past.

The thing is, I think Chuck is God on what the actors said/on the 200th/Swan Song but...I DON'T WANT HIM TO BE. Coz I loved Chuck, and if he's god then I hate him coz God is a bastard to the Winchesters in SPN, AND it would be even worse coz they were FRIENDS with Chuck. 😡

URGH, don't even get me start on Lazarus Rusing. A-maz-ing. Again I ask...how does this man not have a fucking Emmy. 😡

Yes again on the trials. In the first place, I think that should've been Dean's SL - it was all set up for Dean then...once again, it's devolved into yet ANOTHER hurt!Sam SL. I mean, WTF, show, seriously. I have no problem with Sam SL...But I do have a problem with Sam SL after Sam SL AFTER Sam SL. There are two leads on this show, and k don't care that Jensen can still hold his own when he's given no SLs...he's still owed a couple of SLs now and again. Even his MOC SL kept getting interrupted by other people's SLs. Sorry...I got distracted there, lol. Anyway...I just cannot understand people that think Sam should've completed the trials...um, why? Why would've it have been Sam's responsibility to sacrifice his life for that? Swan Song - as much as it hurt - yes, because he did let lucifer out - even thigh he was absolutely manipulated into doing it - I can see why he felt it was his responsibility. The gates. No. He didn't create them. He's not the only one who could close them. And I'm sure the demons would just find another way out anyone. So I see absolutely no reason why Sam should've killed himself.

Lol at the 'I lied' - I'll take what I can get, tbh. There was so much Dean hate last season - FOR SAVING SAM'S FUCKING LIFE OF ALL THINGS 😡 - I'm actually supremely smug that Sam basically gave all those people the middle finger saying that. I think he should've actually given Dean a real damn apology, but as I say, I'll take what I can get with this show right now.

I do not understand Samifer at all. I don't like Angel ships much at the best of times, but Samifer? After the 'bitch in every sense of the word' comment. Really? That's a real no for me. But...as you say, ship and let ship. I don't understand it, but I'm never gonna bitch anyone out for shipping it, but I definitely understand that ship even less than most of my NOTPs.

You boyfriend's a Dean!boy? I'm so jealous...you've found a rare, rare creature there, hehe.

The YED is my favourite demon, but Alastair is a very close second, I think. I just love the Dean!hurt demons the most, big shock I know. Plus, all their actors...some of the best the show has ever had, IMO.

URGH, and a HELL YES on human monsters. I always find that very hard to deal with. That's why I love serial killer movies so much...coz human monsters are ALWAYS the scariest. At least demons, ghosts, monsters are MEANT to be evil...

Lol, and I think we've finally found something to disagree with about the show. It had to happen eventually, right? Hehe. I absolutely adore their co-dependency, even to the point of giving the world the middle finger to save each other, but that's probably tainted by my view of the world. The world is a pretty terrible place, so I don't ever like seeing my heroes sacrifice themselves for it - not Buffy, not Angel, not my Superheroes and certainly not my boys. Meh...and their co-dependency gives me life *cough* maybe because I have *cough* some co-dependent issues of my own *cough cough* But I do totally see where you're coming from, and you're probably absolutely right in thinking they should be less co-dependent - it would probably be better for everyone if they were, lol. 😉

61 - I think at one point Jensen actually DID imply that he personally feels like Dean probably sometimes did sell himself sexually in order to support himself and Sam when John left them alone for long periods of time. :( I wish I could find the video of it, like, it's pretty certain that he said something along these lines, it made it sound like it was his OWN kind of "headcanon". And that would REALLY explain a lot of the times when he plays Dean like someone who has sexual trauma in his past. :(

As far as I know, it's the only time he ever hinted at that, and that was when being interviewed by one person. I think he's more willing to discuss things like that in smaller, "safer" groups than at these big events like cons full of people. But he's become much more open over the past couple of years, so who knows, maybe he'll talk about this kind of stuff too one day...

Yep that's the quote I was talking about, I just had no idea what it was from. I assumed con, but it makes much more sense that it'd be part of a one on one interview instead.

Oh, I know there's a lot of us obsessing over Dean... And I'm in excellent company, so I'm definitely gonna stay :)

This. So devastating. And we really do share the same opinion on John - good point with leaving the boys at Bobby's, too. It's all so very complicated, which I love - it's always more interesting, more thought-provoking, more real when you can't just go and declare "This character is 100% good, this one's 100% bad and there's nothing in between."

When they treat the boys like performing monkeys?? Oh yes. I hate that with a burning passion. "Dance, monkey, dance!" as Jensen has repeatedly put it over the years... I seriously don't get why people do it. It's obvious J2 (and especially Jensen) isn't comfortable with a lot of stuff the fans ask of him, but it's also equally obvious he'd do almost anything for them (especially if he feels like he has to fill in for Jared, too). These are the moments I'm not very proud of our fandom...

And I want to hug you for what you said about the guest stars and teenage tantrums and all that... It's so stupid, and so ridiculous...

Again, I don't get why people do it. Like, I've actually seen people saying that Charlie shouldn't have been killed "because she's a queer character". What the hell?! They demand gender equality, but they say a queer character gets to have full immunity? They say queer characters shouldn't be defined by their sexuality, but then the reason they come up with for Charlie to stay alive isn't "I loved how smart she was"/"how funny she was"/"how geeky she was" or whatever, it's that "she was queer". It just doesn't make ANY SENSE and it gets me so FURIOUS.

Also, I don't understand all these fans who so loudly demand queer or female representation on the show. That's not what the damn show is about! It's about two male, straight brothers fighting supernatural evil, what did you expect?! Like, if I'm watching Gilmore Girls, I won't go demanding representation of tough, shotgun-wielding men who fight monsters for a living, will I? If I'm watching Band of Brother, I won't go demanding represenation of teenage girls in small town America, will I? If every show was about everything, had every genre and every type of plot and characters and fucking everything in it, then there'd be no point in making more than one show, would it?

Sorry for the ranting. This is something that really pisses me off, as you can see :)

And don't even get me started on the lack of Dean's storylines... I'm still so pissed they dropped the Michaelsword thing... And the post-Hell trauma... And the heavy drinking in season 7... The post-Purgatory trauma... The Trials... And as you say, even the MoC SL kept getting interrupted... What I don't understand is WHY? Jensen's the best actor on the show, IMO, he could pull off anything they'd write for him, it could be EPIC, but they're just like "No, let's look at how Crowley isn't getting along with his mother or how Claire's being a teenager".

Yeah, my boyfriend's definitely a Dean!boy. And he's so awesome about it all, about my Dean/Jensen obsession... Understanding and patient and sometimes mildly amused, but... yeah, he's just the best. I'm SO lucky to have him.

I think my issue with too much co-dependency is that when it comes down to it, I want the brothers to be heroes. The good guys. And when they put each other in front of the whole world, I have a hard time seeing them as such. Unlike you, I love it when the hero sacrifices themselves/everything for the world - Buffy stabbing Angel being the perfect example. It's one of the reasons I love Swan Song so much. (It's unfair and cruel, I know... But sadly, a hero's fate is to suffer horribly, isn't it?)

But that's speaking about fictional characters and fictional worlds. In real life, I think my opinion would be very similar to yours.

We do love those moments - Buffy jumping off that tower should've been the end of the show for me because it was so poetic...and it kind of fulfilled her destiny. She was meant to die for the world because that's what Slayers do. Yes, I can very much see where you're coming from there.

You know, I often wonder if it's BECAUSE Jensen is so good. The writers use him to bring out everyone else's awesomeness rather than giving him his own SL? I mean, even when it's not his SL, he still has the most amazing moments - in that church/in that warehouse/the Superman scene. Perfection. Ngl, it royally pisses me off; the writers are just really fucking lucky Jensen is such a nice guy, IMO, because most seriously talented actors would not have put up with this shit after all these years... 😡

This is actually a huge pet hate for me. When I was growing up, there was HUGE emphasis on not letting sexuality/race/gender etc define people - like...treat everyone exctaly the same regardless of any of those things, and I think that's awesome, and it's the way I am. But all these Tumblr teens seem to wear those things as a badge of honour - unless they're white or heterosexual because those are now dirty words apparently - making sure they're the first things because know about them...and, as you say, letting it define who they are. And THAT'S exactly what they've done to Charlie, and it's so gross. Don't love her coz she was gay; love her because you thought she was awesome.

It's done to a lesser extent with female characters - thank you, Kim Rhodes for supporting that bullshit 😡- when people call the show sexist. As if all the male guest stars don't die as well. *rolling my eyes* I don't know how anyone can look at our show - with characters like Jo and Ellen and Ruby etc - and think we're sexist. Ludicrous.

Urgh, and do not get me started on the gay representation bullshit. The thing is WE ALL agree there should be more gay romances on TV...IN ROMANCE PROGRAMMES. Give me more gay romances in Grey's Anatomy or True Blood or TVD. Not in a show that is absolutely not about romance at all. Tbf, I think most of it stems from two things: these teens being desperate for everyone to know that they're gay/bi - hence a special snowflake and not one of those gross heterosexuals - and because it leads very nicely into WHY HAVEN'T WE GOT A GAY MALE ROMANCE ON THIS SHOW YET??! DESTIEL MUST BE CANON OR YOU GUYS ARE ALL HOMOPHOBIC...assholes.

Sadly, this actually sounds like a very sound theory. It's true that he always shines, even when he has absolutely nothing to do. They know he can be amazing even if he's just playing his usual role of the "guilty cheerleader" (Jensen's words!).

I do this horrible thing to myself lately - whenever I read a good book or a good movie, I imagine Jensen as one of the characters and how GREAT he'd be... It's kind of depressing. But also glorious. And the good thing is that even though he's often not used to his full potentional on SPN, he's still playing the best character in the world, in a show that I love above all others, and he loves that character, loves working on that show and working with the people on that show, so all in all, it's alright...

(But I still want to see Jensen in a Western one day. Or an action drama. Or, you know, something completely unexpected and awesome - kind of like Priestly on TIH.)

Yeah...this is exactly how I feel. I often talk to my sister and mom - poor women...they really aren't SPN fans, lol, but I don't have anyone else in RL, lol - about how much I want him in movies coz he's so wasted - and unappreciated - in TV, but then...then I remember he's Dean Fucking Winchester, and what part could ever be better than that?

You know, I actually wanna see him as a superhero. But not one of the really generic ones - one of the lesser known, really damaged ones with a really meaty back story that he'd really bring to life. That would be amazing for me. And westerns, yes. We do not have enough serious Westerns nowadays...

I guess we're all pretty like-minded around here, at least when it comes to the show and Dean...

Yeah, all these questions about Dean and sexual violence... Who knows, maybe one day Jensen will answer those... I'm thinking if there was a really good, serious reporter familiar with SPN and Dean's character, someone who showed real interest in SPN and Dean, and not just in Jensen as a celebrity, maybe he'd be willing to answer. In my dream, he'd do an interview of the Inside the Actors Studio kind, and he'd be interviewed by Sheila O'Malley. (Have I recommended her stuff to you already? Here's her piece on Jensen, and here are her incredibly detailed, educated (and educational) and observant reviews of SPN episodes.)
